I’d steer clear of Olney, MD, but that's just me being a jerk from NoVa

I think so. That’s a lot of motorcycle for $2500-3.

to add, I’ve known of a few tha t sport toured these things with a few farkles. From what I recall they were considered one of the more comfortable sport metrics.

It was $3500 yesterday, and they don't give a lot of info. That's why I'm asking

Ok price. I believe this may be carbureted. Not fuel injected. Or maybe I’m getting it mixed up with the R6 of that era.
If it were me, I would hold out for a newer FI bike. By 2005, most everything was .

I understand. If Maryland license plates knew what the fast lane was, I'd not hate that state as much

That’s good advice. Thanks. I didn’t consider carb vs fi. Honestly didn't know it might be carbed. #newb

If this thing is as advertised and they are dropping price rapidly during a pandemic/recession I’d show up with $2k and give it a shot. It looks the part of a non molested barely ridden bike. The garage it’s pictured in looks clean. If you are close you have to gi ve it a look. Eastern Shore right?

Maryland is only second to VA drivers left lane camping in DE...and the VA drivers do not move...ever...at all.

I'm in the pan handle of West Virginia, so it's pretty darn close. Might have to give it a closer look

Always a little cautious when the ad doesn't mention miles or a pic of the odometer.

I can’t argue with that. I’m a mile from VA, 20 miles from MD. At least the local West Virginia drivers are all packing heat so they act accordingly. When everyone has a gun, people are afraid of getting shot. It helps. I swear.

It also only shows one side of the bike.

It’s around 2- 2.5 hours from me. I used to live in Cape Charles so the name Onley looked familiar.
Injection came a few years later on this bike I think, but iirc the power numbers are similar as that’s likely the primary difference. Sure, injection is better...but I dunno it deters me if the buy is right.
A phone conversation with the owner will tell you all you need to know in most cases.

Few days before 4th of July and raining, Route 1 was a total shitshow today. Surprised by how many MD and VA plates were on there heading south along with the expected NY and NJ drivers , but guess they could be coming from all over or taking weird detours.

I’d say that’s expensive for a likely ridden hard 20 year carbureted old Super sport bike. Unless you’ve got a serious case of nostalgia for that bike I’d get something newer and fuel injected. Also unless you’re an experiences sport rider I’d stay away from that one as it was a serious performer in its day and has zero rider aides either.
What are you looking for in a bike?

I've been looking at new Honda 300s. I just don't want to run out of bike after a summer. It'd be nice to find something easy to learn on that won't leave me craving more. A few oppos have suggested an sv. But this just kinda fell into my price range

How is Olney pronounced? Where I come from there is an Olney near and the “l” is silent.

Not really sure, but knowing this area I'd say it isn't pronounced the way it's spelled.

I’d look at 4-500cc parallel twins like the Ninja or Honda CB500 bikes. I have a CB500x and it’s an excellent bike.

I'll definitely look into those. My boss just bought a Ninja 650R. He freaking loves that thing. I'm trying to avoid a new bike, but it's looking like a decent buy since I plan on keeping it for a while

I would pass. It’s a 20 yr old sportbike. Check title status, it’s potentially questionable . Check insurance prices as well, they can be all over the place in regards to cost .
Consider something newer, to actually new . A modern 600 will be better in every way, and not down by much HP . Power difference is i rrelevant for street riding, but better handling and brakes will lead to lower lap times if you track it. Looks like a dvertised pricing for a leftover ZX6 or GSXR 600 is ~ $7700. Hondas are ~$9k and an R6 ~$10k. Going with a 3 year old used one nets only a ~$1k savings. Given the price difference, to me it’s worth it for the new ones.
Note that I’m extremely biased because I just got a new ZX6 last year. It’s awesome, even completely stock.

Avoiding a new bike is a good idea, but if you grab the right model at the right time they can be nearly as cheap as a used bike. I bought mine as a new 2015 in 2017 and paid $4k for it. You’re in what’s normally the sellers season though so deals are harder to find.

when I go to Dover to see my son I use 9...even on race weekends it’s usually just locals anymore. I learned to ride on 9 and rode it often so I know it well enough to have a good time!

I'm working in Newark all day tomorrow, will probably take that back down. The whole state is going to be backed up at rush hour

Definitely makes sense. I read an article on Revzilla the other day talking about a surge in ridership and hoping a lot of them turned into commuters. It’d be awesome if that would stick.

My new sales territory is everything north of the canal, and I live in Dover, so it's a lot of back and forth until the state shuts down again. Better than driving to my old office on Kent Island

The used scooter market is red hot right now too. Anything good and reasonably priced is gon e within a couple days, tops. I've seen several sell within a couple hours.
